Automatically logging in without being prompted for a password
I just added and bound "Client for Microsoft Networks" to TCP/IP in the
Network control panel to try accessing a SAMBA server on a Linux machine. Now, every time I start my computer I get prompted for a login and password. I remember a few years ago my college had computers running Windows 98 in the labs and I don't remember those machines prompting me for a password. Yet they were on a network. How did they set that up so that it would automatically log in to a default (restricted access in that case, but I want full control) account? When I remove "client for microsoft networks" no login prompt appears, so it's definetly a network thing. Though I do get an annoying prompt "your network is not complete" even though I have file and print sharing disabled. |
