Upgrading Windows ME
I currently have a Windows ME disc that I thought was a
regular ME disc, but, since I have formatted, I have come to realize that it is an UPGRADE for WINDOWS 98. Now that I have tried to install ME and have formatted the computer, it will not install. Does anyone know how to install this upgrade without having an Operating System on the computer? I have an ME boot-disc and a 98 boot- disc and nothing seems to work. |

Upgrading Windows ME
You need a 98 CD.

Upgrading Windows ME
Try this tip by Brian Livingston Switch Resulting Action Setup /NTLDR Bypasses any detection of a previously installed operating system. By default, OEM/VAR versions of the Windows full releases can be installed only on a new computer without any previously installed operating system. This switch allows the Windows setup program to circumvent this restriction. Copyright 2000 Brian Livingston "Matt" wrote in message ... Upgrading Windows ME
NTLDR only applies to WIN NT systems (NT/Win2K, XP) - not to Win 9x.

There's supposed to be an actual NTLDR file for that switch to work. Not the
genuine NTLDR but a text file renamed thus. Shane "AAH" wrote in message ... It's supposed to work, Noel, though one is supposed to have NTLDR in C: -
ie, a text file renamed NTLDR. It's an allowing dual booting with NT thing. Shane "Noel Paton" wrote in message ...
