I agree, obviously you have read it and it wasn't exactly "forever" -- it
was ten years. But......once it has been "shared" it really is forever
because the sharee's will also share it with their business partners (slight
euphemism there) who will be bound by nothing and your personal info is
literally perpetuated forever.

Where the EULA details are something I would expect to find at 'slimeymikes
software cracks and workarounds'(If slimeymike told you at all), it was, as
you say, not something I expected from a respected(?) AV supplier. It is
not the same, but not that dissimilar to, those fake spyware eradication
programs that may delete other people's spyware, but actually load their own
spyware. I suppose i felt a slightly stunned rebuff when i read the AVG
EULA.

Further, anyone who thinks that their email address is safe is deluding
themselves, regardless of the EULA. Yesterday on the local ng I saw a
posting where someone was selling registration email addresses -- by the
million. For years i have felt that all that it really takes is a
disgruntled ISP or software house employee with CD access.

In any event, my problem is solved about the compatibility issue.
Regardless of what is said on the AVG free forum, AVG continues to be active
and scheduled tests and updates occur without the AVG Command Center
constantly running in systray or minimized.

I haven't tested the Scheduled Tests yet, but yes, updates occur even with the
Control Center turned off....I discovered that this morning.
