Accessories - Imaging
New to W98. would like to know if text documents scanned
into the Imaging App. in W98 Accessories can somehow be imported into Word or Wordpad and therefore be worked on...that is, additional text added, deleted or revised and then saved. I have seen all the annotation and highlite capabilities but not the ability to work with the text itself. Thanks in advance. Lil |

Imaging produces a graphic image, not editable text.
You want an OCR (Optical Character Recognition) program to extract the text from the image. I can't advise on the best currently as I haven't installed one for years and I rarely use it (Omnipage Pro 8.0) ....Alan -- Alan Edwards, MS MVP W95/98 Systems http://dts-l.org/index.html In microsoft.public.win98.apps, "Lil" wrote: New to W98. would like to know if text documents scanned into the Imaging App. in W98 Accessories can somehow be imported into Word or Wordpad and therefore be worked on...that is, additional text added, deleted or revised and then saved. Lil You can do some quasi-text placement via Paintbrush, but it is limited, if you make a mistake you can do an UNDO or CTRL+Z, better to get a graphics editor that allows layering. Wordpad can allow the placement of objects (pictures, music, whatever ) with text describing such, but not on the graphic. -- Sincerely, | (©) (©) | ------ooo--(_)--ooo------ Andrew H. Look through the software that was supplied with your scanner. You are
looking for OCR software - it may have been installed as part of the scanner software package, or it may have been an optional component that you skipped. Check the scanning utility to see if there is an option to "Scan to OCR" or similar. The output will be text which you can copy and paste into WORD or WordPad, or it may be a text file which you can open or insert into an existing document. -- Jeff Richards MS MVP (DTS) "Lil" wrote in message ...
