Large Hard Drive... recommended Scan/Defrag
Win98SE having Hard Disk larger than 137GB.
Which Scandisk/Defrag is recommended ? What about scanregw.exe; is it unsafe ? Should it be disabled ? Thanks. |

Scanregw is not concerned about the size of the hard disk drive. It is
quite safe and there is no reason to do anything with it. -- Jeff Richards MS MVP (Windows - Shell/User) "Dingwhistle" wrote in message ... Win98SE having Hard Disk larger than 137GB. Which Scandisk/Defrag is recommended ? What about scanregw.exe; is it unsafe ? Should it be disabled ? Thanks. |

So, in the event of a bad shutdown it is OK to leave it enabled and have it
do its thing? Would you know if WinME's Defrag and Scandisk are OK to use for maintenance of same said large HD-D 137GB ? "Jeff Richards" wrote in message ... You may have a misunderstanding of what ScanRegW does. Please see:

Let me just query whether you used XP's Disk Manager to repair that
replacement disk FAT and Partition issues? Or any other disk repair tool? Responders should note: the disks in question are 500gig. One 500gig already toasted.... OSs are XP [not updated] and Win98[SE?]. -- MEB ~~ "Dingwhistle" wrote in message ... | So, in the event of a bad shutdown it is OK to leave it enabled and have it | do its thing? | | Would you know if WinME's Defrag and Scandisk are OK to use for maintenance | of same said large HD-D 137GB ? | | "Jeff Richards" wrote in message | ... | Scanregw is not concerned about the size of the hard disk drive.
