Do you mean a font that includes a top hat? Look for Retro Metro. If the
font is displaying as squares (which could look like a top hat if they are
underlined) then the font is corrupted or is not intended for displaying
text (such as Marlett).

He is not local so I cannot see his machine. But I think he is saying
that when he displays the content of windows\fonts using view 'large
icons' that some of his font files show an image of a top hat. I
don't know what the file suffixes are. He has not told me.

Thanks

There are viruses that can do this kind of thing so he should scan the
system with an antivirus program that has current virus definitions
installed or use one of the online scanners:
http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/
http://housecall.trendmicro.com/
http://www.bitdefender.com/scan/licence.php

If he is reading email with html settings (vs plain text) or reading a web
page, the tophat may have been inserted by the author. He could try copying
and pasting the text into Notepad to see if the tophat persists or changes
to something else. Notepad will strip out the html and display only text.

You're on the right track - you need to determine how those fonts differ
from the others, such as the font file type.
