New instal -- problems related?
Three problems with new instal of Win98 SE (on
new hard drive) may interact. 1. Explorer and Outlook Express will not print, complaining it cannot find c:\windows\system\shdocllc.dll\preview.dlg Printer is correctly installed (and prints Borland Sprint=EMACS OK.) 2. Message on boot: Error: could not locate INF file "%49700%content\Win9x\Win98SE\WSEresume.inf" There is no file WSERESUME on C: (or on my old PC with WinSE) not even in c:\windows\temp. This error message appeared on perhaps the same day of use. 3. The speakers went silent on the second day. But the Win Help Sounds Troubleshooter will not work because of ActiveX. What is ActiveX and can I switch it on and off at will? What chances these three items are related? I could not instal the OS myself as planned (failed 5 times at the first reboot, complaining it could not find ATMSYS.DRV) so took it back to the store where the vendor reformatted and installed (from his own disks, he said) Build 4.10.222A. -- Don Phillipson Carlsbad Springs (Ottawa, Canada) |

This file appears to be part of the "Update CD", which might be the security
update CD. If you have used an update CD to bring your system up to date, try re-booting with the CD in the drive, or try re-running the update. -- Jeff Richards MS MVP (DTS) "Don Phillipson" wrote in message ...
