Default Error Message: 'While Initializing Device VKD - Windows protection error.

Hello, I own a IBM Thinkpad 600e and I am having severe
problems booting up the machine on Windows 98. Everytime I
attempt to start-up ot displays the following message:
'Error Message: While Initializing Device VKD -- Windows
Protection Error -- You Need to Restart Your Computer'.
Even in safe it displays this message. I am lead to
believe that it is a malfunction with the keyboard, and
the remedy is to disconnect the keyboard then re-connect.
However, I have a laptop so I am unable to comply with
this solution. Please does anybody have any advice?

Many Thanks
Clarke

Should I be contacting IBM instead?
Thanks

I'd say you have two choices--contacting IBM tech support or you could try
reinstalling Windows to see if it is software problem.
