Hi Tod,
somtimes you CAN'T add a Hardrive on the same cable as
the CD-ROM Drive. Open your PC'S cover and look on the
hard Drive.Does it Say MASTER on it??? If so take out
your CD-ROM drive and look in the back of it and find
place were it says: Cable select,MASTER,SLAVE.
Move the small connecter to Slave an see if it works.
BE SURE YOU REMEMBER TO CONNECT EVERY THING BACK WERE IT
WAS. IF that don't work move the selector back were it
was.

For information on installing W98, go to:
http://home.satx.rr.com/badour/html/w98_restore.html
or go to:
http://www.waynescomputerworld.com/cleaninstall.html
^ Also tells you how to Formate/Reformate your Hard Drive
for Reintallation(s.)^
But if you DON'T have a boot disk go to: www.bootdisk.com

Have a good day.
