Default Bootable flash drive

How do I make a USB Pen Drive bootable to Win98SE DOS? I've tried
unsuccessfully several times and can't do it.

I need it to run Ghost to do my machine backups instead of first using a
Win98SE boot disk followed by a second disk to run Ghost. I've also tried
to make a bootable CD but that failed too.

For both a bootable CD and a bootable Pen drive you'll need your BIOS to
support this. The CD or Pen drive contains an image of a bootable floppy,
and the BIOS will emulate a floppydrive for this.

You need special software to put the image on the pen drive. Have a look he

I don't know if it's possible to do this from within W98.

1. You cannot boot Win98 from a USB drive. (Think
through the sequence in which you boot MS-DOS
from a floppy, including CD drivers. MS-DOS must
itself be loaded before the sequence can process the
drivers necessary to activate CD drives. Any
component added via USB requires a sequence like
this twice over, first to load USB version 1 or 2 and
then to load device-specific drivers. The USB drive
cannot itself load the drivers needed to activate itself.
Floppies manage this OK when the BIOS is set to
boot from a floppy: but the BIOS cannot do the same
for a USB device.)

2. You do not need a USB drive either to clone
your C: drive or to create a bootable CD.
