Default Me Windows Folder Display Problem

I am having a problem with accessing the windows internal files folder
through My Computer or Windows Explorer. The only way I can access the
windows folder is by opening the Control Panel and opening the Fonts
folder, then I can click up one folder to view the contents and access
the Windows files folder, yet when I clock up again to the Drive folder
window, the Windows folder is not there, not accessable. Nor is it
visible or accessable in the Windows Explorer or when I open the drive
file folder where it has normally been. I have the folder properties
programed to see hidden folders so it has not been hidden, there seems
to have been a glitch in the computer. Can anyone help me figure a way
to access the WIndows File Folder through Windows Explorer again?
Thanks,
David

David,

When you do manage to access the Windows folder via Control Panel and the
Fonts folder (very well done by the way), do the Properties of the Windows
folder tell you anything? Right click on the folder and look at the
General tab on the version folder. Yours is the second post I've seen in
the last week where this problem has occurred.

You say you have enabled the viewing of hidden folders in Explorer, Tools
| Folder Options | View but have you also UNchecked "Hide protected
operating system files"? If not does unchecking this help?

Returning to your problem. Try booting to DOS using a Win Me floppy,
choosing either option 2 or 3 but NOT 4 (minimal boot) and at the A:\
prompt type
ATTRIB -H -S C:\WINDOWS
This should remove any hidden or system attribute from the Windows folder.
Now remove the floppy and reboot back into Win Me and see if the Windows
folder is still marked as hidden. If it is then you have some third party
program, possibly malicious, running that is causing you this problem.
