freezes after using IE6

Hello -

My Windows ME computer, almost always freezes after I have
been on the internet using IE6. Everything functions fine
when ising IE, however, once I close the program and try
to open any other program or click on the start button,
then the computer freezes.

I am using Spybot, Stinger, CW Shredder, AdWare and Norton
AV 2004, and the problem still exists after running scans
with all of these.

Any help would be appreciated.

Try disabling NAV, and see if that helps - if it does, then install
something that actually works with ME and try again!

OK - try a Repair of IE -
Reboot to Safe Mode
Go to Add/Remove Programs and try a repair of Internet Explorer from there.
Go to the entry for 'Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 SP1 and Internet Tools'
in Add/Remove Programs
Click on Remove - and click on Repair on the window that pops up
Reboot on request to Normal Mode

If the above entry isn't there, you first need to uninstall all the patches
applied, then do the repair, then reapply the patches
The patches are listed in Add/Remove under the names 'Internet Explorer
Qxxxxxx'
highlight, click Remove - reboot if requested.
Repeat until the MSIE6SP1 entry appears - then repair as above.

Try running a process viewer and see what's really running on your machine -
if nothing untoward, then it may simply be a symptom of either a hardware
fault, or a misapplied setting.......

empty your TIF and Offline content, clean your Swapfile from DOS, make sure
that Windows is managing your Virtual Memory, and uninstall any third-party
memory managers.
check that in SYSTEM.INI, there are no entries in the [vcache] section
unless you have more than 512MB RAM installed
