Default page size?

Today I "looked in" on one of my fav' web sites to catch up on the forum, to
be able to read the posts I have to move the scroll bar at the bottom of the
page,
(very annoying), I can't remember having to do this before.

Can I configure the page to remove the scroll bar and read the whole message

Cheers Steve

Kinda hard to give precise advice without an example to work from. Reducing font
size and/or screen resolution might help, but perhaps the difference between now
and what you remember is due to the website changing something.

Hi Gary,

Thankyou for your reply, everything is back to normal now (on the web site
that is) maybe it was a hiccup that day.

Sometimes I wonder if I have very vivid dreams, but then I would have only
dreamt about sending the first message in this thread.

A question, what determines what size a page will open to, i.e when opening
I.E sometimes it will open "maximum" size and other times it will open what
looks like "A4" size in the middle of the screen. (I know there is also
"full screen" size, but I do not mean that)

I am on win98 se, and have looked in control panel internet options
advanced, but cannot see a "open page full size" .

It is the same with MS Word, sometimes it opens with Maximum size and other
times with "A4 size.

Many thanks Steve

With those particular programs, they tend to open to whatever the screen setting
was when you closed the last instance. They don't use a "normal" shortcut LNK
file, so you have no option to specify Maximized. Even if you make a "normal"
shortcut to the EXE, then set the Normal/Minimized/Maximized value, they aren't
going to pay any attention to that if you are just clicking on a URL or a
DOC--they'll go back to whatever the windows specs were when you last closed the
app. Sometimes, though, even that "last size" mechanism doesn't work. To help
that, open the app, size and place it the way you want, then hold down the Ctrl
key while using the Red X to close the app.

Of course, there are lots of reasons that the last-closed windows for IE might
be different from your chosen configuration, due to pop-ups, etc.

This all has nothing to do with your original problem in this thread, though.
Web page coders can do just about anything they want, make the content fixed in
size, etc., but it's generally left up to the client browser to arrange the
content within the limits of your display. Many only really work well if IE is
maximized, but that's only a small part of it. The problem gets worse, because
designers have to account for all the different browsers in the world, and my
guess is that the site's designer was trying to recode his or her page to work
in some other browser, and used a technique that then caused problems in IE.
Programmer discovered this new problem and then either gave up and put back the
old page, or further corrected the code

(Don't worry about the dreaming thing... I'm never quite sure it the world I'm
seeing is real or if it's Memorex -- more like Memory-X).

I did wonder if it might be related to "the last time".

Where would I find the"Red X".

Off to bed now, many thanks Steve.

Upper right of window. Next to Maximize/Minimize buttons.

What do you call it, s? The "Close" button? Problem is, there may be more than
one button, and there is always more than one way to close an application. Only
the Red X will do for this trick.
