I am OK, Harry. I was just p***ed off because it keeps freezing. So I
uninstalled it totally in about 30 seconds. I have done that several times
with 1.03, 1.04 and 1.05 lately.

And remember....my other nickname is *Auntie Virus*......there ain't none of
those critters on this computer, as Loon would say.

I may put the 1.03 back on. All 3 of the versions are in a Folder on my
hard drive and I just have to open one of them again. Tho I may send 1.04
to the Recycle Bin. It was truly bad!! Come to think of it, I also have
the old 6.xxx version......that may be the best one, for now.

Never fear.....I will sort it out. And I have Spybot, CWS, SpywareBlaster
and HiJack This on here.....not to mention an AV and a firewall.

Heather, I hate to see you suffer like this.
Have you tried 'total' unininstall and then reinstalling the thing from
scratch? If you did and it didn't bring any results, how about checking
inside your program for a hidden virus, a trojan or whatever?
There has to be a plausible solution for this problem.
In the meanwhile, did you already get rid of Adaware SE?
If so, why not try it one more time for heaven's sake?
Be a good sport.

Harry old and quite confident.

I am so fed up with the damn thing freezing up on me (usually about 600
files in) that I have now removed it totally and will just stick with
Spybot.

1.04 was awful and 1.03 froze a time or two......so whatever they are

doing,
they ain't doing it right (as the Loon would say). Give me back the

old,
reliable version 6.xxx!!

And if you want me to post this on Lavasoft Forum, you betcha I will!!!!

VBG!! You getting psychic in your *senior years*???

And I still am not quite sure what slipstreaming is......are you saying that
it is somehow on my XP Home CD that is mysteriously sitting here glaring at
me?? (G) Or is there some other CD that adds to it. See? A blonde moment
or two.

I have just watched the 90 minute debate with Kerry (yay) and Bush (yuck)
and my head is spinning......why do I inflict these things on myself?? Lol.

Night......Heather
(and I will drop you a line shortly......was away for a couple of days)

PS......what is PID? My brain is fried from all the fussin' on CNN.

Slipstream in this case means that XP SP2 has been integrated into the XP
image on the original disk meaning that if you install using a slipstream
copy you go straight to having SP2 installed.

If needs be I can mail you a copy since for some odd reason I know you
have a genuine copy of XP Home complete with PID sitting there. vbg

Heather,

A slipstreamed CD is a CD that combines both the original RTM build and
the latest service pack into a single CD. One makes a bootable slipstream
CD using one of a number of recipes using either an RTM or slipstreamed
SP1 CD as the starting point and then adding in SP2. Since SP2 is a
cumulative update there is no need to go via SP1 and one can slipstream
the SP2 pack (all 266MB of it) into the RTM CD. There are many advantages
of installing from a slipstreamed CD rather than from an RTM or SP1 CD and
then installing SP2 as doing so results in less duplication of files in
various caches on your hard disk and you also won't have to worry about
the SP2 undo files. Overall installing from a slipstream SP2 CD rather
than from RTM and then installing SP2 results the space required being
around 1GB, yes 1GB, less.

PID = Product ID, the key you need to install an operating system or other
protected software.

My goodness. I've just seen the time so it's night night from London.

Sorry to hear that Figgs. I have only run "Smart System" and Custom
scans to date. No problems as yet. I'm still on ME but, XP Home is in
the box waiting for me to make hardware changes before upgrading.
Reading the XP groups is giving me some tremors though. I might need a
"two--------------finger' martini before I take the leap.

Just make sure you put SP2 on *immediately* after you install XP, then
programs, then devices and you shouldn't have any problems.

I have the SP2 update on file (downloaded the full prog. from Microsoft)
as well as a free disk made available by mail from Microsoft. But,
reading other parts of this thread about "slipstreaming" has added to my
confusion. I'm still not exactly sure about how it is done. Perhaps Mike
M. or Shane would be kind enough to walk this tired old brain through
the procedure. Also, RTM?, something about Retail perhaps?

All I could think of was "read the manual", grin. Don't feel bad, Mike has
lost me a few times in the past 24 hours......especially when he was talking
about his electricity problems.

Cheers......and bedtime for moi.......HF
