Boot disk versions
The boot disk created by W98SE when used, gives an initial menu "CD drive
enabled, etc. It also creates a RAM drive, which I don't need. When I go to bootdisks.com, and get an "improved" boot disk for W98SE, it just boots to an A prompt. No CD enable. Where to get a bootdisk w/o ramdrive and include CD drive enabled? ms |

Where to get a bootdisk w/o ramdrive and include CD drive enabled? ms Copy the floppy with the RAM drive capability and delete the RAM drive command(s) and command(s) that copy files to it from the AUTOEXEC.BAT or CONFIG.SYS startup files. Is the presence of the RAM drive really so much of a problem? You would have to be using a rather old computer for the memory usage to be inhibiting the availability of Extended or Expanded memory to a DOS application. The only likely issue would be conventional memory availability, which could probably be relieved with a bit of work with HIMEM.SYS parameters and changing driver commands to load them into the high memory area. Sometimes these techniques can make a Windows 95/98 virtual machine compatible with a DOS application that normally complains of low conventional memory. |

The Windows 98 SE Custom bootdisk at
http://www.bootdisk.com/bootdisk.htm does what you want. Please note that the CD is assigned drive letter "R:". Ben "ms" wrote in message ...
