Default Booting Problem....Stick on an Update trying to finish

When booting up in Win Me a screen comes up asking
whether to
finish the install of Internet Explorer or do a
complete re-install.
Doesn't matter which one you choose it doesn't do
anything. If
I cancel it seems to go okay until you try to use
IE then it goes to
Active Desktop error page. Fix that, back to the
desktop but
still doesn't work. Keeps freezing up.

Haven't use this for sometime and trying to set it
up for the kids
to do their homework on. It's a Micron PC w/Win
Me.

Was going to either do a Re-install, still have
the system disks,
but the PC won't recognize any programs in the CD
drive ?

Also tried to use the Dos boot us and that didn't
help.

Any ideas anyone? Thanks in advance for the help
!
