Default Compatility?

Win98SE

Performance suffers when things don't play well together.

Has anyone noticed a compatibility problem running the AVG7.0 "Control
Center" (defaults to startup menu and minimized in systray) and Agent 1.7
(or other releases)?

Thanks Glen. That, of course, is the answer.
It is the Free Edition and in order to be an interactive poster on the forum
it is necessary to register......but, after reading the complete license
agreement I decided i already had enough spam in my inbox. :-)

You know the drill, about line 237, after the "no retroengineering or
selling" legalese, they go into --- "you give us permission to share your
personal data with third parties" .......forever. G

Without registering there are "read-only" capabilities on the forum.

(I understand one of the greatest entry avenues for spyware, adware,
scumware, etc., is people not reading the license agreement and just
clicking on "I accept". Not that I think that Grisoft would download any
nasties to me -- they would probably just annoy me. :-))

(BTW, that "flash" I spoke about the other day that I am seeing on startup
is some kind of a toolbar.)

Thanks,

FACE

I have other email addresses than my primary mailbox. I keep at least one for just
such situations. I registered using one of my alternate addresses. There are free
webmail addresses you could get for this type of thing, from Hotmail, Yahoo mail or
others.

Actually, like most everyone else, I have what i call a "throwaway" yahoo
email account.
I guess i just wanted to be extra straight up about the whole thing with a
virus scanner, not even sure why since I always use the Yahoo address to
register for access for those pesky online newspapers that require
registration just to read the articles and for other free software and don't
give it a thought. ..Unless i use "Bugmenot.com" for the papers. :-)

Yes, I have used some made-up addresses for sites like that, too....such as

I am a little unhappy with AVG having those conditions in their EULA...it certainly
doesn't seem like the sort of thing you'd find in an anti-virus' agreement. :-\
