Default System Doesn't Recognize Cable Modem After CD Recovery

I use an HP 8670 Pavillion. After running a CD recovery, my system does not
recognize my cable modem. Who should I contact to resolve this issue? (HP,
Microsoft, or Cable Provider) Thanks in advance for your help.

the first thing to try (its easy and works 50%) is always
start
run
winipcfg
scroll down the drop down list of adapters till you find your network
interface card (nic)

if there isnt the nic shown you have to reinstall the drivers for it, the
cable modem is directly connected to your nic, if the nic was added after
purchase, to install cable internet, then the drivers for the NIC are
probably not on the recovery cd, and need to be reinstalled, look for a cd
or floppy the drivers are small.

if the nic is shown try 'release all' 'renew all' to regain your ip address

if the configuration is too different the cable provider is best first port
of call, when you add a different nic they have to reconfigure their end to
recognise it, different MAC numbers

Hello Loridoug,

Have you tried reinstalling the dr_ivers for your modem
that would have come with installation CD for the cable
modem?

Hope that helps.
