Mike you gave me info on how to change my stacks some
months ago and I just had to clean my hard drive and have
lost everything, could you please pass that info on again,
as soon as I get a chance I'm going to go through back
letters on here to get my anti virus etc. Would
appreciate it very much. If you do, thanks for your
trouble, I wouldn't ask again but it really helped before.
Again Thanks, Mary

Mary,

I suspect that what you may be looking for is:

You can increase the number of stack pages by adding the line:
MinSPs=8
to the [386Enh] section of the System.ini file and then restart your computer.
You can do this either using Notepad and editing system.ini directly or by
using MSConfig and going to the System.ini tab. The KB recommends increasing
the number of stack pages in increments of 4 so setting MinSPs=8 would seem to
be a good place to start.

See MS KB 149083 -"There Are No Spare Stack Pages"

Regards and best of luck and I hope you manage to recover your data.

Mike, I thank you very much for this info, it was what you
gave me before and it helped. But some how I screwed up,
I realize it's my fault I've just just got home from my
best friends funeral today and probably shouldn't even be
on this but I'm trying to get my mind on something else
and at the rate I'm going I'm making a mess of things. I
did as you said to change the stacks and lost my mouse and
had to restore back to Sat. which is when I had to erase
everything from my hard drive. Now besides not being able
to restore my stacks I can't open up pictures I had lost
before of my new grandson my son resent me because OE has
removed access because of unsafe attachments....I now how
to change this under normal cicumstance but for the world
can think of what to do now, I realize you are not my
personal cp fixer upper but can you please tell me what I
need to do besides get off here until I can think
straight. Please help. Mary

him being on the other side of the world and all

Rick
not in the same ballpark knowledge-wise

Not so sure about milking the cows Rick. I was even up when Mary made her
last post but not at the computer - getting coffee being far more important
for me at 7.30 a.m. than answering posts. :-)

Mary,

I'm sorry to read about your loss and send my deepest sympathies.

I'm not clear as to how adding a MinSPs entry to system.ini would have screwed
up your system but if you provide some details I will try and help.

Your problem with Outlook Express:
To access attachments in Outlook Express:
Tools | Options | Security and UNcheck the box "Do Not allow attachments to be
saved or opened that could potentially be a virus".

If you do decide to uncheck this option PLEASE don't forget to scan for
viruses and other nasties ALL of your attachments irrespective of whether sent
from a friend or not before making any attempt to open or run them. It is
users failure to carry out such simple precautions that allows viruses such as
Swen & MyDoom to spread so quickly.

Don't worry about asking for help, we've all had to do it and I know that when
stressed as you probably are at the moment things appear to be more difficult
than they are. If you would prefer to take this off line then write to me at
.

Regards and my best wishes,

Hadn't though about that Joan! There is an inner city farm in Vauxhall about
a mile away but I'm not sure they run to having any cows. Horses, sheep and
chickens yes but cows I think not. :-)

No, I'm wrong as usual, they apparently have a "lovely cow called Charlie"
and http://www.mylambeth.co.uk/brixton/k...llcityfarm.htm amongst
many).
