computer reboots into safe mode

| | "PCR" wrote in message | ... | Sometimes you can boot all the way to Normal Mode with no problem? And it comes back? | | _____ | Sorry, but for some reason outlook express is not adding the for | quoted text (although it's enabled) so I'm using these lines to indicate | my response. computer reboots into safe mode
I have been in touch with someone in another forum who had an issue a few months ago
with fdce.vxd recurring, but without any Safe Mode starts occurring. He has informed me that "...FDCE.vxd seems to be a file that comes with a program called Hide Files & Folders...It is to prevent users from seeing a hidden file/folder even if the program does not load. I wrote to the company & asked why the file remains even after un-installing their program & never heard back. You can un-install Hide Files & Folders & then manually delete FDCE.vxd or you can continue to use that program...just be aware that vxd file will load whether the main program loads or not. It does not seem to be harmful in any way that I could find...hope this helps you & anyone else wondering what it is." Please see my reply to PA Bear's response, the probable origin of fdce.vxd being
a program called Hide Files & Folders. Do you or did you have that app installed? Are you planning on following up with your thread in the aumha.net forum? Please either reply there, or list it as Closed, and the moderator will delete it. -- Glen Ventura, MS MVP Shell/User, A+ http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm "*selah*" wrote in message ... Good detective work, Glee, if that's it.
| but without any Safe Mode starts occurring. *selah* said... "It starts booting and then reboots into safe mode and then brings up the error message." So, that file may prevent a boot into Safe Mode, whether/not it causes the failure to boot to Normal Mode. And sometimes *selah* gets all the way to Normal Mode. I don't know what happens when *selah* purposely attempts to boot to Safe Mode by holding F5 as he boots, though, or by holding CTRL for the Startup Menu. -- Thanks or Good Luck, There may be humor in this post, and, Naturally, you will not sue, should things get worse after this, PCR "glee" wrote in message ... | I have been in touch with someone in another forum who had an issue a few months ago | with fdce.vxd recurring, but without any Safe Mode starts occurring. | | He has informed me that "...FDCE.vxd seems to be a file that comes with a program | called Hide Files & Folders...It is to prevent users from seeing a hidden | file/folder even if the program does not load. ... | None? OK, I'll try that myself, thanks. | I don't think that worked, PA. Setting it to "None" did not add indent characters in the response to a post that was sent as "Quoted Printable". However, indents do occur in a response to one that was sent as "None". So, right, it isn't MIME that prevents indents, but it's "Quoted Printable". This is a "MIME, None" sent to a "MIME, None", & it gets the indents. The *OP* needs to make the MIME change, not you!
