QUERY
I had win 95 OSR 2 in my Compaq Presario. I got a Win 98 SE Upgrade from
Ebay and I had installed the same without any problems. The only issue is that the CD-Rom drive door does NOT open smoothly NOW! What should be the settings in - System Properties Performance File System CD-ROM ? The Driver is alright as I had uninstalled and allowed Windows Update Wizard to search and install the correct Driver. Thanking you Capt K Ripendran |

Settings there (or elsewhere in Windows) should not have any effect on how
*smoothly* a CD drive door opens and closes. That would be strictly a hardware issue within the drive itself. AFAIK. -- Glen Ventura, MS MVP Shell/User, A+ http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm "Capt K Ripendran" wrote in message ... I had win 95 OSR 2 in my Compaq Presario. Have you installed all of the updates that are available for 98 SE on
http://update.microsoft.com/ ? And have you installed the latest driver file for Win98 for that make and model of drive? Those settings have no bearing on how the door opens.
Set them to: 1. Large 2. Quad-speed or higher -- Glen Ventura, MS MVP Shell/User, A+ http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm "Capt K Ripendran" wrote in message ... Yes I have.
