I am about to format my OS drive after many years. Can anyone direct me
to
a document which will instruct me how to save favorites, address book,
emails
etc.
I have most apps/drivers saved, but am bound to forget something!
David

Why?

Why not just fix whatever it is that's wrong?

Drive formats is the first consideration (whether you can
store the backups on CD, DVD or another hard drive)
and the second may be how to copy currently loaded
system files (which Win98 may refuse to copy.) For
#2, the free utility at www.xxcopy.com enables copying
most or all system files. If space allows (#1) copying
the whole of your old C: is the simplest way to back up.

It's the simplest way to ensure you have a copy of everything, but not
necessarily in a form from which you can easily restore the information
to a newly-installed system. DadiOH's post explains about how to sort
the address book (though of course _not_ on the desktop if you're going
to reformat!).

I'm with philo though in asking why you're going to do this (though not
with 98guy in saying the drive is about to fail, unless it is giving
signs - is it? - in which case reinstalling of course won't solve the
problem).
