1800-642-7676 does a great job in support and generate a
new product key for Win98 installtion.

If you are getting to the point where you can enter the

product key, the
floppy start up disk is obviously working correctly.

The only other thing I
can think of is that the product key you have is not

correct for the version
of Windows you are trying to install. Call MS and get

them to issue you a
new product key: 1 800 642-7676.

well, i was very careful about that, i also tried many

keys, none worked.
could it possibly be that i am not using a 98 boot disk

created in windows
98? or could it be that i have a burned cd?

The key is 25 (five groups of five) alpha numeric

digits. You have to
be
careful about 0 (zero) and O (oh), Z and 2, etc.

If you are trying to install W98 over the top of

the existing
system,
the
key you are inputting may not match what is in

the registry. If so,
open
the registry editor (regedit.exe) to this key

(folder) and see what
is
listed in the right pane for the entry

ProductKey:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersi
