Windows 98 contains an enhanced version of DOS (7.1)

Press and hold "CTRL" key while booting. Boot to msdos mode. Type in
"ver", hit return key. This is if you normally boot to windows 9X.

If you are in msdos real mode, simply type in "ver" hit return key.

This does not work for msdos virtual mode. (msdos window)
