Is anyone here testing Windows Vista?
I know this is off-topic but I was just wondering if anyone was testing
Windows Vista on their computer(s). If so then what do you think of Windows new operating system and will it convince users to upgrade from 98SE. Finally, do you feel it is a secure operating system or does it still need much work. I hope to test Windows Vista when the RC1 becomes available now to the general public that it is much more stable. |

I subscribed to the Vista general newsgroup but I highly value this group's opinions because there are a number of smart people in this group that can sometimes be harder to find in the other Microsoft groups. |

I hope to test Windows Vista when the RC1 becomes available now to the general public that it is much more stable. I installed Beta 2 a couple of months ago and it sucked big time. I gave it another shot here a couple days ago and it's been improved considerably. I have an almost new motherboard but neither Vista nor the motherboard manufacturer has drivers for the sound. Also, my HP Scanjet 5470 won't work with it or will my Dell 720 photoprinter. I imagine sooner or later the hardware manufacturers will come through with updates for all this stuff. I don't like the way Windows Explorer works although they have improved it since two months ago. When I first installed it I was running a Pentium 4 2.4Ghz processor. It was slower than the Second Coming. Now I have a 3.2 dual core and it runs reasonably well, although still not as fast as my XP does. I've been opposed to every new operating system Microsoft has come out with, but sooner or later I learn to accept it. I'll probably be dead before there's another one. Thanks for your feedback. I look forward to the chance to test Vista. |
