Default Invalid page fault errors

On my Windows 98 system I keep getting invalid page fault errors.
Several occur after Windows has loaded in the following programs:
YOP (that's Yahoo Online Protection)
rundll32
autodown

And it also occurs when I startup Internet Explorer, I get that program
error message asking me if I want to send data to Microsoft and then
the program crashes. I can't access the Internet even though I am
connected.

All the errors say that the program caused an invalid page fault error
at module "unknown"

I've tried running anti-virus (AVG) and Ad-aware... I have that
computer networked with this one (running Windows XP) and sharing a DSL
connection. After some issues in the beginning, I finally got the
network up and running so I've been using this computer to download the
antivirus programs so I can run them on the other one since I can't get
IE to work there at all.
Another thing that may or may not be related: if I uncheck
automatically detect settings under LAN settings in internet options,
then IE doesn't crash, but the pages won't load.

I'll provide more information if needed, but keep in mind some programs
won't run either because of the invalid page fault errors or my
inability to access the Internet.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!!

Default Invalid page fault errors

I noticed the problem started after I networked the computer with my
newer one running XP. I'll check these sources, thanks!

But would you know how to turn networking "off" so I could isolate if
the problem has anything to do with that? Is there anything I have to
uninstall or do I just unshare files and printers? Would this even have
anything to do with the errors?

I don't know nothin' 'bout Networking or birthin' babies! So, I'll tell you how to do it only if no one else does within 5 hours! Perhaps try Windows Help &/or the MSKB as well in the meantime.

Like you said, do look through Leboeuf's & the MSKB articles I posts to see whether the error also pops up when you do what they speak of. Then do that fix. Keep us informed.

Well, here's one thing on Networking that could be a starting point...

Troubleshooting Windows 95/98/98 Second Edition Network Connection

(192534) - In a Microsoft Windows 95/98/98 Second Edition network,
hardware and software-related problems can cause one or more computers
to lose the ability to browse or communicate with other computers. These
problems range from no network functionality at all...

Thanks for the link and all your help. I got a tip from someone to
uninstall Yahoo Online Protection and that seemed to do the trick.
Don't know if it was installed incorrectly, or if it just doesn't work
with my system, but until I figure out how to make it work, it's
staying off my computer!

You are welcome. Glad to hear it! It does make sense it could have been Yahoo, now that I reread your original complaint. Also, uninstalling it was a cure.

Try the Yahoo site for an explanation. Hold their feet to the fire!
