Default autostart CD not working

Today I burned a CD and put an autostart.ini (also tried autostart.inf) file
in it, but it doesn't start automatically in either drive. After several
attempts, I tried a few commercial CDs that used to autostart and they don't
start automatically either (except one). I checked my settings in System
Properties and both the RW Drive and the DVD drive have "auto insert
notification" box checked.
Other than starting automatically, the drives work fine.
The last time I prepared autostart CDs that worked was prior to installing
OE6, MSN9, and IE6. I'm running WIN 98se.
Anybody with an idea of why the CDs do not open automatically?
Thanks for any help........ Jim

See: "Autorun.inf Entries",

(that is one long line).
