Default Question about links...

I'm using 98se, updated, with dialup. As of a few daze ago
when I r/c a page link , the puter freezes, and curser is busy,
with no data trans. Can't r/c another link on the page but...
I can refresh the page and things are back to 98se normal.
Prob is intermittent and seems random. No probs for mins. or
hour. Or starts again next min; with same results.
Tried to do a google with no luck. Any explanations or fixes
will be greatly appreciated....

You may find this is due to your using dial-up. A
phone co. technician told me years ago:
1. Home phone voice lines were never designed
to carry digital data at convenient display speeds:
it is just good luck that they do.
2. The voice line to your house or mine never
remains the same for many months. Physical
voice line assignments may be swapped at the phone
co. switching office, and are likely to be swapped 3 or
4 times a year for phone co. convenience (I was told
years ago . . . ) If your line happens to be of good
data quality, and is then swapped for a different line
of poor data quality, you have no complaint so long
as voice service is not interrupted.

I experience the same problem, but with ISDN dialup, brand new telephone
lines and a program running in a background window that monitors ISDN
transfer (overrun/underrun errors, packet size etc.). See 'IE6 download
question' on this forum. Problem started after I made updates and patches.
Things improved partially after reinstalling parts of IE6 but still aren't
what they should be. There are fewer problems if the web pages visited are
simple html. With complicated sites like Ebay with active-X and Java they
worsen. Have not found the real answer yet.

I'm having a similar problem.
http://groups.google.com/group/micro...y+why+&lnk=nl&

I am getting SO sick of this.It seems it got worse in the past few
days.I/m think about reinstalling windows and see if that helps, but
that is a PITA too with all the updates.
It was suggested that I update video drivers, but I still can't get
that
to work.
It's getting to where I cant even close a page and it will hang.

Or I wonder if I should try to get another video card?
