The real answer is by configuring the application appropriately via its Options or Preferences pages however for some applications you will need to manually remove them from the startup axis using MSConfig (Start, Run, enter MSConfig in the box and click OK), Open the Startup tab and uncheck those applications you cannot configure not to load each time you boot your PC but be warned that many such applications will add themselves back to the start-up axis when next used. Note though that it is ESSENTIAL that you don't uncheck ANY entry until you are fully aware of the consequences of such an action and fully understand the implications of so doing. A useful site that will help you understand the purpose of each startup entry and therefore help you decide which to safely remove can be found at http://castlecops.com/StartupList.html and includes all the information formerly provided by Pac's Portal. -- Mike Maltby MS-MVP |
