Default partition removable drive

Hi Jeff,

I thought that maybe you are no longer following the old thread but
might see this new one.
I posted a reply to yours (copied below) that perhaps you cna answer.

One thing I don't understand is why you believe that my system can
accept an 80G c: hard drive, while Hugh states that a controller card
would be necessary.

Thanks!

Eric

There's no reason to suspect your BIOS as the problem. In fact, if FDISK is
seeing 10Gb for a 80Gb drive then that almost certainly means that the BIOS
sees the drive correctly and it's the wrong version of FDISK. If the BIOS
could only handle a 30Gb drive then FDISK would also see it as 30Gb.

Hi Jeff. Thanks for this info. It sounds very promising.
I've plugged in a 40+ HD in the past and it wasn't recognized.
I'm not sure if I need to manually input the heads/cylinders for it to
be recognized or just leave it on AUTO recognition.

I will take the time to open up the case and swap my 30G HD to the 80G
that I now have if you are fairly certain that it will work and
eventually be seen as an 80G HD. That would be great if it worked!

Eric
