Default microphone Not working, WINME

My microphone is not working, although I can get the sound
from speakers just fine. But the microphone is not
recording anything.

The driver for the microphone appears as Creative
Soundblaster.

Any solution?

Select and right-click the Loudspeaker icon on the System Tray (bottom of
the screen). Select 'Open Volume Control'. Now select 'Options' on the Menu
bar, then Properties and the Record option. Confirm that the Microphone has
been selected and then adjust the Microphone level control.

You can do a quick test of this by running sndrec32.exe.

Thanks for your help. I did that. All the options in the
Properties for Playback and Recording have been turned
ON. When record into the microphone in Sound Recorder,
and when I playback the recorded sound, I am getting
hissing sound from the speakers.

Does that tell you anything?

thanks

When you attempt to record in Sound Recorder, does the 'green line' vary in
sympathy with your recording?

Try playing a .wav file from the Windows\Media folder to see the 'green
line' on playback.

If you're still not getting any response, maybe you have a faulty microphone
or it's plugged into the wrong socket of your sound board. Try substituting
the mic or try it on another computer.
