I have a win98se.iso that was self booting to use with virtualbox or
virtualpc and my HD crashed. I have looked all around and on usenet for what
I think was a post about were I can get this image. If anyone knows where I
can get this and 3 setup img files for dos-6.2x I would appreciate the help.
I will have to bookmark something all over again. Thanks.

Bill

It's no longer available on CNET.

Get it from here instead:

Are there files that are I think 3 DOS disks (3.5") floppies in the .img
format. I am not quite sure how to look for that. I don't know what the .img
format is qemu maybe? And is loaded like the disk were via virtualbox.

JJ,

Get it from here instead:

https://winworldpc.com/product/windows-98/98-second-edition

I've downloaded the se english retail version (as a backup to my old
floppy-and-CD one, assuming its a all-in-one solution not needing the
floppy), but do not see any mentioning of a product key. If I need it to
be able to (re-)install, do you know where can I find it (on the site or CD)
?

Regards,
Rudy Wieser

It's either on the Windows box or on the Windows sticker that was placed
onto your old computer's case.

If you no longer have them, you can either run a third party program to show
the current product key (run it in your Windows 98 system), or ask Google.

Are you sure about that ? I always thought that the different versions and
even batches, possibly even each CD, would have different keys.

If you no longer have them,

I've still got my own as well as a few gathered from family and other people
dropping the OS, so I can choose. :-)

Thanks for the response.

What do you mean? You're asking *where* to find the product key right?

The Windows product key is unique even for the same Windows version,
edition, and build. But you can use the product key for other installation
as long as it's for the same Windows version and edition (legality aside).

AFAIK, OEM and retail product keys are considered as the same edition (i.e.
compatible). e.g. OEM full and retail full, and OEM upgrade and retail
upgrade. Full and Upgrade edition product keys are not compatible.

If you no longer have them,

I've still got my own as well as a few gathered from family and other people

Mine is only the OEM CD. It's still in perfect condition. I don't even let
any fingerprint left on it.
