Default Refresh desktop

Hi,
Anyone know of a way to refresh the desktop, such as from a rundll call? I
know there's "rundll32 user,repaintscreen" - but that is a repaint, not a
refresh.
I'm working on a little batchfile, based on some things from this webpage:
http://libertyboy.free.fr/computing/....php#ms_cl_rec

I'm going to use a secure deletion program to delete c:\recycled, and I've
written a batchfile which does this, and updates the registry to show that
the recycle bin has been emptied. But, it's going to take something better
than a repaint to update the recyle bin icon on the desktop. Obviously, I
don't want to hit F5 either

Thanks,
Jeff
