Norton AV renewal question
I know this is off topic, but I am
starting to get frustrated with the process. I created the problem, but I am being punished by the process to fix it. Also, there is always someone here to give advise. When I renewed my subscription last year I did not keep the message with the renewal key. I have been trying to get through to Symantec to get it renewed, but after keeping me on the phone menues, they tell me they can't handle me at this time. My question is is there a way to find it on my computer? Thanks |

the best thing you could do with Norton products is to uninstall and throw it

Norton AV renewal question
That's a daft thing to suggest, lots of people like Norton. Another daft
thing you did was put in links off to Panda, which is really crap a/v software from what I've seen of it. Norton works well in most machines that's it's installed into, as long as such machines aren't in a complete mess to start with. regards, Richard "AlmostBob" wrote in message ... the best thing you could do with Norton products is to uninstall and throw it away -- Adaware http://www.lavasoft.de spybot http://security.kolla.de AVG free antivirus http://www.grisoft.com Panda online AntiVirus scan http://www.pandasoftware.com/ActiveScan/ Catalog of removal tools http://www.pandasoftware.com/download/utilities/ Blocking Unwanted Parasites with a Hosts file http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm links provided as a courtesy, read all instructions on the pages before use Grateful thanks to the authors/webmasters "Gianni" wrote in message ... | I know this is off topic, but I am | starting to get frustrated with the process. | I created the problem, but I am being | punished by the process to fix it. | Also, there is always someone here | to give advise. | | When I renewed my subscription last year I did | not keep the message with the renewal key. | | I have been trying to get through to Symantec | to get it renewed, but after keeping me on the | phone menues, they tell me they can't handle | me at this time. | | My question is is there a way to find it on my | computer? | | Thanks | |

Any "bloating" is insignificant if you have a good computer with reasonably up to date hardware. I have NAV '03. When you right click the tray icon to open it up, select "Help" and select "About Norton Antivirus", you will find displayed the numbers for your account ID, Free Subscription SKU, Paid subscription SKU, and Part Number. I have an issue with the $20 renewal charge - that one is straight out of the Microsoft playbook, but not the effectiveness of the product, which is excellent. |

And then download and install AVG 6.0 from Grissoft. It is free.

Yes, I suppose so, but there are also a lot of people, including me, who
find it much too obtrusive to the point that it often interferes with normal computer activity. "RJK" wrote in message ... That's a daft thing to suggest, lots of people like Norton. Thanks Unfortunately, I see nothing unfortunate about calling a shovel a shovel, and a pile of dirt a pile of dirt. knocking Norton in this NG has become a symbol of political correctness, ********, Baloney and Balderdash. Norton is indisputably one of the most user-hostile products on the market. and in some cases by people who should know better. People who "should know better" usually do, and say so. Any "bloating" is insignificant if you have a good computer with reasonably up to date hardware. More B, B and B. Wasted resources are inexcusable. Period, Full Stop and End of Sentence. IT may interest you to know that Microsoft has "targeted" Norton via its plans to get back into the virus protection game. We shall see if that provides an impetus for Norton to clean up its act. |

I know. At the antitrust hearings it will be presented as absolutely essential to the operation of Windows, kind of like IE and Media Player. |
