Ie has unexpected error and can't run details show bzchhfxg.dll
I have windows 98. This problem started about a week ago. When I try to run Ie6 I get the standard error that the application has encountered an unexpected error and will restart with option to send error to Microsoft or not. whichever you choose it keeps restarting with same error unless you uncheck the restart. When I click to see the error being sent there is lots of technical garbage but what I can see is that the problem has to do with bzchhfxg.dll
I ran virus scan and spyware spam and came up with nothing. Other internet related apps like Outlook express works fine. I ran IE6 setup again and forced a reinstall even though it said it was at the latest update already. Any ideas other than reinstallation of Windows. Thanks Sam |

Hi Sam,
Have you updated your anti-virus app with the latest virus definition files before doing a complete system scan? What anti-virus program are you using, and what is the date of the virus signature files for it? You should also do a virus scan with one of these online scanners: http://aumha.org/secure.php#freeav I would bet that the file you mention, bzchhfxg.dll, is virus or trojan-related. It would help if you included the "technical garbage" you read in the report. You don't mention what spyware app you used to check the system, so I will include my standard reply below. Update your anti-virus app and then run a full-system virus scan. Use CWShredder, the CoolWeb removal tool, available he http://www.majorgeeks.com/downloads31.html http://www.zerosrealm.com/downloads/CWShredder.zip http://aumha.org/downloads/cwshredder.zip Close all browser windows and open apps, start CWShredder and click the Fix button. In addition, install Ad-Aware SE free edition, start it, click its 'Check for Updates' link in the app to install updates, then use it to scan your system, and remove what it finds. Ad-Awa http://www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download/ Install, update and run SpyBot Search & Destroy, scan your system, and then remove the items in RED only. SpyBot S&D: http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?page=download Install SpywareBlaster: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download2859.html Click the link in the app to check for and install updates, then click to 'Enable all protection'. Update at least weekly. If the problem still exists after that, download, unzip, and run Hijack This from one of these locations: http://computercops.biz/downloads-cat-14.html http://www.majorgeeks.com/downloads31.html http://www.spywareinfo.com/downloads...HijackThis.exe Unzip to a folder other than your Desktop or the Temp folder, doubleclick HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan". When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button. Press that, save the log somewhere you can find it (Desktop, My Documents, or similar). Most of what it lists will be harmless or even required, so do NOT fix anything yet. Copy the log files and paste them into a new post at this forum: http://forum.aumha.org/viewforum.php?f=30 In your post, please state your problem clearly and what you've done so far to fix it. The folks there will tell you what to remove. See the "housekeeping" you should complete before you post your log: http://aumha.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4075 A tutorial for using Hijack This is located he http://tomcoyote.com/hjt/ -- Glen Ventura, MS MVP W95/98 Systems http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm "Sam" wrote in message ...
