Default We'll miss you, Alex...

Those of you who have been around these newsgroups for any length of
time at all will have read and appreciated the sensible and always
gentlemanly contributions of Mr. Alex Nichol. Those of us who had
occasion to work together closely with him, whether here or in other
forums, and especially when we were able to meet in person, considered
Alex to be the embodiment of what it means to be an MVP.

Mr. Nichol passed away, today, after a short illness. Alex was one of
my mentors when I first joined the groups. To say that I am deeply
saddened doesn't begin to describe how I feel right now.

That is very sad. I just searched on google groups for the times he helped
me. He left a great legacy of helping people around the world, setting a
great example for those of us he leaves behind.

My sympathies to his family and to the MVP family.

Ditto. Alex was the epitome of an MVP, and also one of my early mentors. As in the
old E.F. Hutton commercial: when Alex talked, everyone listened. I received this
news earlier this evening, and am still a bit stunned. :-\

This is real sad news. Alex was one of the best. Thanks, Gary, for the
report.

Thought some of you might appreciate Jim Eshelman's tribute to Alex.
