Default Hard disk problem:bios and win98 cannot see it, linux does

Hi. I have a Western Digital WDC400 full of data, and after some hardware
failures of my MoBo I could not access to it anymore (I've changed the MoBo)
After trying every posible configuration (master, slave, alone , in another
computer), bios does not detect it.
Today I 've tried an old red hat linux boot floppy and it detected it as
16383/16/63 WDC400, with 8063 MB (may be this is my first partition size).
Anybody can suggest further steps to make the disk usable again?
Thank you in advance.

Perhaps when the old MB failed, it took the HD with it. Suggest you
download WD's diagnostic software and check out the health of the HD.

If you put the drive into another machine...
even if the bios cannot detect it...if the drive is still good...
the operating system should be able to see it.

if so, win98 should assign it a drive letter...
if you are using XP, try disk management
