Problem with a mouse driver - Windows 98
Hi,
I have installed Windows 98, and I have a microsoft mouse on a serial port. I followed the steps indicated in the read-me file for the mouse on my installation CD(Windows 98) and it doesn't work. Is there a way to copy the mouse driver file directly to my C using Ms-Dos for instance? Do I have to modify the Autoexec.bat file? Your answers are welcome! Thanks in advance! Doris |

Method 1: If the driver file collection includes an EXE file, instal it via / Control Panel / Add/Remove Programs. Method 2: In / Control Panel / System / Device Manager select the mouse, right click / Properties, and click on Update Driver. You need to remember which folder holds the mouse driver files. Win98 does not need AUTOEXEC.BAT. (This was held over from Win95 which did need it.) -- Don Phillipson Carlsbad Springs (Ottawa, Canada) |

You should not have to install any extra driver for a serial mouse in Win98.....just
connect the mouse and start the computer. Windows should add its own driver for the serial mouse when you start up. -- Glen Ventura, MS MVP W95/98 Systems http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm "Doris" wrote in message ...
