Default Slow responding mouse

I am currently having a probelm with my mouse lagging
behind in movement. Also the same is true of keyboard
entries, it seems to lag a few character behind, unless I
type very slowly and methodically. Any suggestions?

Does the problem still occur immediately after a reboot?

This is kind of a stupid thing to ask, but maybe someone
messed with your settings and changed your Pointer Speed
and Keyboard Speed / Typing Rate in Control Panel?

Also, you never said if your keyboard and mouse are USB,
or even cordless/wireless. I have a USB mouse in my old pc
and it lags if the pc is busy with something. If you pc is
really busy it won't respond very well. What speed is your
pc?
