screen saver locks up computer

I reloaded Win 98 SE on my Compaq computer.I installed a few apps and after a
few weeks I am having a problem. Everything works fine but after the screen
saver is enabled the computer locks up. I try to go and change the screen
saver options and it just freezes. I am stuck and have no idea how to fix it.
ANy help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Screen Savers".
