Default AcomData HD FW driver 1394\609E&10493

I have been trying to get my Acom external HD working on
FireWire, have posted many requests for help. My Dell is
searching for a new driver for the above device, but
cannot find one, (1)I have already installed the Acom
software, (2)there seems to be no such driver on the old
Win98 CD(surprise?!) and (3)I do not have a Win98SE CD, as
I have (4)upgraded on line, and have been updating several
times, (5)MS update site insists I need no new drivers.
AcomData suggests I install an IEEE1394 "Supplement" but
(6) MS website has no response to any search words for
that.

I have repeatedly searched for anything associated with
IEEE1394, (6a)the MS website apparently cannot even spell
IEEE1394! Seems the entire world is begging for help in
running FireWire on PCs, but I see no way to install it on
a recently updated Win98SE machine.

I have even (7)asked how to search your site for my own
posts, which is confusing because there are several places
to ask for help.

You cannot upgrade to 98SE online.

"Firewire" is a good keyword for a MS KB article leading to a solution to
your problem.

"IEEE" refers to a board that approves hardware specifications. "1394"
refers to the firewire specification as designated by IEEE. The words are
separate entities.

The 1394 supplement is article 242975 since Nov 2001.
