Default invalid hibernation partition/file????

put finger to keyboard and composed:

FWIW, I found the following text strings in the Notebook module in the
BIOS code.

================================================= ====================

Curiously, I found a Notebook code module with the same text strings
in the AMI BIOS for my socket A *desktop* motherboard:

Default invalid hibernation partition/file????

On Tue, 13 May 2008 20:26:33 -0500, "L.S." put
finger to keyboard and composed:

Received a donated laptop for our local historical society.
Reformatted HD, everything worked/loaded, but when I restart system it locks
up, no keyboard, nothing with the following msg.
"Invalid hibernation partition/file run hd-----"
I can get into BIOS, using Del key, but that's it.

I've tried to use the startup floppy that was created during Win install but
no go.
I've put in the win98se cd and still nothing.

Is this a win98se problem or did I do something?

Default invalid hibernation partition/file????

Update 6/4.

Just got the laptop back and it's working.
Gave it to a friend that works for a large City.
He took it in to a couple of IT guys and it's back and working.
Only problem is is I don't know what they did.
Will try and find out.

Default invalid hibernation partition/file????

It *would* be nice to know what they did. Does BIOS look any different?

Bios looks the same.

Since I don't have the disks, I'm trying to load drivers which on this
machine is a nightmare trying to find them.
Would like to connect to net but having problems setting this thing up.

Will let you know how I proceed.
