Web style window does not display properly
Running Win98se, IE v. 6.0 sp1 w/128 bit cipher strength, and 184 MB RAM.
When I shut down my computer earlier today, it froze momentarily, then went into safe mode. From there, I clicked Start, then shut down, and let my pc rest for a few minutes. When I turned it back on, it went back into normal mode, and everything looked okay. However, when I clicked on the My Computer icon on desktop, the window did not display in web page format. All my other window applications were okay, and displayed correctly in web page format. I went to folder options, and the web style radio button was selected. I even tried tweeking the other settings, then applying the web style view as default. Still the window is displaying in Classic style. Also, when I right click the My Computer icon, the menu has 2 new options on there--Map Network Drive, and Disconnect Network Drive. So the issues here are two-fold. Is there anyway of getting the My Computer back into Web style format, and also getting rid of those 2 items to do with Network Drives? Thanks, chip618 |

Um, the only two settings for Web view I know of are in folder options (
which you already mentioned ) and in right click on Desktop, Properties and Web. Not sure why people choose to use this setting, since it clearly slows down your system. As for the "Map network drive" and "Disconnect network drive"...this doesn't effect anything. In fact, if you ever do decide to hook two computers together .... you'll most likely use these two options. -- "All problems have a simple solution! Double-click My Computer.
Click the View menu. Click "As a Web page" to give it a checkmark. Press F5 Hold down the CTRL key while you close My Compter with the X in the upper right corner. -- Glen Ventura, MS MVP Shell/User, A+ http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm "chip618" wrote in message ...
