slow shutdown in WinME which used to be a quick shutdown
WinME has been treating me well for shutdowns, which would usually happen
within 5 seconds after clicking shutdown. Recently, I had a power failure while using WinME, and after I had power again, it went through the regular screens where it runs scandisk, computer shutdown improperly, etc., which completed. But now when I go to normally shutdown this PC, it takes much longer, from 45 seconds to a minute. Is there anyway to make the WinME PC I have shutdown much quicker like it used to shutdown? Thanks! You could try rolling back Win Me to the state it was in prior to the
power outage by using System Restore and restoring the most recent checkpoint that predates the power out. Failing that tracking down shutdown and power-off problems (they differ) can be somewhat difficult but may I suggest that you start by having a look at MS KB 273746 - "How to Troubleshoot Windows Me Shutdown Problems" (http://support.microsoft.com?kbid=273746) and then move on to Jim Eshelman's pages at http://aumha.org/win4/a/shutdown.htm and http://aumha.org/win4/a/shtdwnme.htm which cover this topic. Hopefully you will find advice there that will help your resolve your problem. The Windows Me Startup and Shutdown Troubleshooting Wizard is located in the Help and Support Centre in Windows Me. -- Mike Maltby Vince M wrote: WinME has been treating me well for shutdowns, which would usually happen within 5 seconds after clicking shutdown.
