DUN Network adapter not available
Ran spyware software on my daughters comp and found some problems.
Zapped the files. Dial up would still work and would show a connection to my ISP but no webpages would load, giving the error "DNS not found" or similar. Tried a number of things, including uninstalling DUN (control panel, uninstall software, windows, communication). Also followed the Micrsoft bulletin relating to reinstalling, which included the above, as well as involving renaming a whole load of files and re-extracting them from cabinet files. Uninstalled all network components and then tried to reinstall them Now we reach the new problem - having followed all the steps - when it comes to installing the dialup network adapter (control panel, networks, configuration, add adapter, Microsoft, dial up adapter) - once we get to Microsoft, the dialup network adapter is not there. Every article, troubleshooter, etc etc that I have looked at all make the assumption that when you choose Microsfsoft, the dialup network adapter will be there. Its not. Is this just a setting that makes it not visible or have I killed it? Where do I look? Help! |
