Format/Restore Woes
I previously posted problem w/ restoring windows ME to a
formatted hard drive. Contacted Emachines several times, totally useless. They condemned my hard drive, only after getting me to buy new restore cd's. I found old cd of Windows 98. Popped in floppy drive, it worked? What does this mean and what can I do from here? Help |

I responded to your original post yesterday - please stick with one thread!
Here's my response again.... I'd suggest finding out he maker of your HD, and checking eMachine's assertion of possible HD failure using the manufacturer's test utility - also check out your RAM using DocMemory2 from www.simmtester.com. One other thing - have you upgraded the system hardware in any way since the original install? - some of these restore CD's are *really* picky about it. -- Noel Paton (MS-MVP 2002-2004, Win9x) Nil Carborundum Illegitemi http://www.btinternet.com/~winnoel/millsrpch.htm http://tinyurl.com/6oztj Please read http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm on how to post messages to NG's "karo" wrote in message ...
