Default OS2 or NON-OS2

Can anyone please help/answer me:

1.What is OEM(full form)?
2.As in FAT32 the default cluster size as small as 4 KB;
that for FAT16 is 32 KB; what is the default cluster size
for NTFS (in XP)??
3.In Advanced BIOS Features under OS select for DRAM
64MB, its given that "Select OS2 only if you are running
OS/2 operating system with greater than 64MB of RAM on the
system" --- what is meant by "OS/2 operating system"
here???
Suppose I've a dual boot with win-ME & win-XP and 256MB of
RAM (SD), what should I select-- OS2 or Non-OS2 ???
4.As stated in "Microsoft Knowledge Base Article-154997" ,
that Windows 98 and Windows Me includes a FAT32 conversion
tool which we can use by clicking Start-Programs-
Accessories-System Tools-Drive Converter (FAT32)... But

though my present file system is FAT32, I cant even see
any such drive converter in the system tools..why is this
so??? [N.B.- I'm running win-ME & XP in FAT32]
5.Is there any such drive converting tool(from FAT to
FAT32 or NTFS & vice versa) available for free download??
Please give some links..

Thanks in advance..

I believe OS2 refers to an IBM operating system which hasn't been around for
quite a while. So the answer to your question [3] is NON-OS2.

If you are planning on dual booting do not convert xp to ntfs.
Windows 98, Me does not Recognize Ntfs file system

However, there is no free partition manager out their to my knowledge

This following is possible. You will need a partition manager like
System commander.

This is how I have my system set up. Takes a lot of work to do this.
Partition 1 Win98se (Fat32)
Partition 2 Winxp (Fat 32 or NTFS*)
Partition 3 Shared (Fat32)
Partition 4 Backup

*I chose Fat32, so 98se could see it and you can also use a dos boot
disk to clean out viruses if needed.

If you don't mind win98se not seeing windows xp and Loose the ability
to clean out viruses from dos in xp. Goahead and convert xp to
ntfs. I would install windows xp sp2 on a fat32 drive, then convert
just that partition to ntfs. I had some problems with xp install,
when I told it to format a ntfs partition. I ended up with a bad
install of xp. I did it again but I installed it to fat32
partition. After install I converted that partition to ntfs.
Then I had no problems.

Original Equipment Manufacturer

No, just as with FAT32, it varies with the partition size, from
1K to 32K

what is the default cluster size
for NTFS (in XP)??

4K

3.In Advanced BIOS Features under OS select for DRAM

It's an older operating system produced by IBM that hardly anyone
uses these days.

Suppose I've a dual boot with win-ME & win-XP and 256MB of
RAM (SD), what should I select-- OS2 or Non-OS2 ???

Non-OS2.

You can run Convert from the Start | Run line. But first read
http://www.aumha.org/a/ntfscvt.htm because there's an issue
regarding cluster size that isn't obvious.

5.Is there any such drive converting tool(from FAT to
FAT32 or NTFS & vice versa) available for free download??

Besides the built-in Convert command, there several third-party
tools (NTFS to FAT32 *requires* a third-party tool, but FAT32 to
NTFS doesn't). Partition Magic is the best-known such product,
but there are others, such as BootIt Next Generation. I've never
used BootIt Next Generation myself, but it comes highy
recommended by other MVPs here. It's shareware, not freeware, but
it comes with a free 30-day trial which may be enough for you to
do what you want with it.

By the way, if you have five unrelated questions to ask, it's
best to ask them in five separate messages.

1. OEM - Original Equipment Manufacturer, have no idea what full form
means.
2. 4kb.
3. OS/2 is the old IBM operating system. Select non-OS2.
4. It's there because fat32 didn't always exist and was used to convert
fat16 files systems to fat32.
5. Don't know of any free file system conversion tools but I can't imagine
why you would want one. If your running fat32 you definitely would want to
go back to any previous file system and if you running ME or 98 you can use
NTFS.

? I don't understand this sentence at all. There is no previous
file system to go back to except FAT16 and FAT12, and those have
size limits way too low for today's drives.

and if you running
ME or 98 you can use NTFS.

Sorry, that's completely false.
