I have clipboard installed and can view stuff on it, what
I can't seem to do is save to another location. Save as bmp or jpeg or anything, it does not go where I send it. I dont think it works, only as a viewer, so Mircosoft should remove the save as..... option and stop winding people like me up But thanks for your help suz |

The clipboard viewer is just that. It cannot save files other than as CLP
files. Save As works just fine allowing you to save a copy of the clipboard in whatever location you select using whatever file name you select. Perfect for saving copies of screen grabs etc. If you want something different then look for and use a third party utility that provides the functionality you require. If this is getting you worked up then sorry, but you only have yourself to blame. -- Mike Maltby MS-MVP Suz wrote: I have clipboard installed and can view stuff on it, what I can't seem to do is save to another location. As mentioned in my replies to you in previous posts, (and as Mike has also
pointed out in this thread) Clipboard and Clipboard Viewer are only for use with .clp files and are not designed or intended to load or save .bmp or ..jpg files. The Save As feature only allows you to save as .clp files For a description, please read "About the Clipboard" http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/de...eclipboard.asp Note particularly the first paragraph in the 'Display Formats' section to understand the purpose of the clipboard and the Clipboard Viewer' I don't think it is Microsoft's intention to 'wind people up' HTH Mart "Suz" wrote in message ... clipboard
Thanks, Mart/Mike, but I think my clipboard isn't working
correctly. Under file I have Open/Save As/Exit, under Edit I have Delete, under Display I have Auto/bmp (if pic) text etc. Whatever info is on clipboard I cannot save as, or open. The info stops there and cannot be moved elsewhere. Is that then, the purpose of clipboard to just view info? I cannot highlight within the viewer to cut and paste' either. Perhaps I should uninstall and reinstall, maybe some command is lacking? cc Mike -----Original Message----- As mentioned in my replies to you in previous posts, (and as Mike has also pointed out in this thread) Clipboard and Clipboard Viewer are only for use with .clp files and are not designed or intended to load or save .bmp or ..jpg files. You need to read very carefully and understand the document that Mart has
already suggested to you. I regret to have to say that what still appears to be lacking is your understanding of the clipboard viewer, what it can do and not do and your failure to take the advice you have been given to seek a third party application to do what you require. For example you cannot use the viewer to edit images. It is not a graphics application. To edit an image that is on the clipboard paste it into a suitable graphics application, even MSPaint will do, and work on the image there. -- Mike Maltby MS-MVP Suz wrote: Thanks, Mart/Mike, but I think my clipboard isn't working correctly. clipboard
The clipboard - or more specifically in this case the Clipboard Viewer - is
NOT a picture or text editor. If you open a text document (e.g. suz.txt or suz.doc) and highlight and "Copy" a line or two of text, that highlighted text 'sits' on the clipboard. You can now "Paste" that text elsewhere in that document or into other documents as many times as you wish - UNTIL you either Copy something else onto the clipboard or re-boot your machine when the contents of the clipboard is lost. However, if you were to open Clipboard Viewer, you would see that 'highlighted' line. Now, if you were to Save that line in the Viewer as e.g. suz.clp and then want to Paste it at some future date into another document, then you could open Clipboard Viewer, open suz.clp and then Paste the 'clipped' text into your new document. The same applies to pictures which you have selected and Copied to the clipboard using the Copy command - but it does not copy or more importantly save it as a .bmp or .jpg file, it saves it as a .clp file!!! You can then open the .clp 'picture' in Clipboard Viewer and "Paste" it into any document or application you are working with. THAT APPLICATION (not the Clipboard Viewer) is then the one to edit the text or picture and then save it as a new .txt, .doc, .bmp or whatever file. The Clipboard Viewer will ONLY open and save .clp files. If yours is not doing that, then I suggest you uninstall it, re-boot and re-install it as described earlier. How to Install and Run Clipboard Viewer http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;141310 I hope this makes sense. Mart "Suz" wrote in message ...
