explorer disapear after startup after trying to update nav

hello i rebooted the pc and the task bar disappears after startup. i
tried restoring the explorer.exe changing the shell= in system.ini but
i have the same problems any ideas?

Try restoring the registry to a point before the problem occurred. The

Do your desktop icons appear, and only the taskbar and start button are missing?
Or, is the entire desktop blank except for the background wallpaper?

Does the same thing occur in Safe Mode?
To boot to Safe Mode:
-Start the computer and hold down the CTRL key till the Windows 98 Startup menu
(boot menu) appears.
-Use the arrow keys to select "Safe Mode" and press Enter.

thanks for your tips, the windowz night mare is over. I restored my
windowz folder. fortunately i had a backup.
