Default Bootlog

Having shutdown problems so after various methods of
trying to find out what the problem is have not got to the
stage where it is suggested I create a Bootlog.txt by
holding down the Ctrl key whilst starting up until a menu
appears to select Bootlog.txt option. Have tried this but
although the computer seems to be doing something as it is
making different noises when I keep my finger on the Ctrol
key, the menu does not pop up and thus cannot create a
Bootlog.txt. Can someone tell me why and is there some
other way to create this file. Thanks

Try rapidly tapping the ctrl key. If no luck, try tapping the F8 key. If
still no luck, boot up, run msconfig.exe, advanced button and mark enable
startup menu. OK your way out and reboot--the menu will appear.

Thanks for this, created Bootlog.txt and checked it. From
what I have read on shutdown problems the last line should
read EndTerminate=KERNEL. I do not have this line at all,
my last line is EndTerminate=User. Could this be the
reason why my computer is hanging on shutdown and if so,
what can I do to solve it?
